Two cops arrested

PRETORIA – The National Head of the Hawks Lieutenant General Mthandazo Ntlemeza has commended the investigating team that arrested two police officers. The detectives (aged 38 and 30) allegedly conspired to execute a cash in transit heist.

They were arrested at their homes by the Hawks and SAPS Special Task Force in the early hours of Friday morning and appeared briefly in the Kriel magistrate’s court.

The detectives are accused of being part of a larger group that was conspiring to execute cash in transit robberies in the Mpumalanga areas. They are remanded in custody. They will appear in court again on 16 September 2016.
