According to the South African Police Service three Western Cape policemen were arrested last week. Charges included corruption, dealing in drugs, possession of drugs and possession of stolen property.
A 34-year-old policeman stationed at Parow police station was arrested on charges of corruption, dealing in drugs, possession of drugs and possession of stolen property.
A 40-year-old policeman stationed at the Strand police station was arrested on charges of corruption, dealing in drugs and possession of drugs.
A 50-year-old policeman stationed at Macassar police station was arrested on charges of corruption, dealing in drugs and possession of drugs. The communiqué went on to say that “More arrests of SAPS members are imminent. The SAPS management in the Western Cape has vowed to root out criminal elements within its ranks. We trust that these arrests will send a strong message to other would be criminals within the SAPS”.
