Search for Boy Continues

Melkbosstrand police were called out to the beach yesterday afternoon where a 14-year-old boy was reported to have drowned.

The incident took place at around 16:30 at the  the main beach (The Slipway). The NSRI’s Diving and Rescue Unit, Fire Rescue, Metro Rescue, Law Enforcement and SAPS’ Diving Unit searched for the boy.

The search had to be called off at 19:00 due to bad light and a very strong sea currant, says police spokesperson Constable Debbie Alard.  The police’s diving unit will continue looking for the boy today.
