Table View police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler has urged the public to be cautious when parking in public parking areas, at shopping malls, Parklands Main Road, Porterfield Road and Marine Circle in Table View.
Chandler’s warning follows hot on the heels of cases of theft out of cars. In some cases complainants had not locked their cars, and found their valuables stolen upon their return.

“Make sure you take your valuable items with you,” Chandler urges. “When you mobilise your alarm, make sure it is activated properly before walking away. Do not expose valuable items locked in the boot of your car. Be aware and alert of your surroundings.”
“During some of the reported cases a laptop valued at approximately R10 000 was allegedly stolen. Other items stolen included clothing, a video camera, cellular telephones and sporting equipment.”
