Playing pool at the highest level cost  Rudy Meyer his job. Now the affable Melkbosstrander (48), who plays for Pool Billiards South Africa,  is willing to give up his sport in order to find a job.

“I’m willing to cancel my pool for my family and just play social pool,” Meyer says. “Due to my pool my family is suffering.”

Meyer, a former stock controller, has been unemployed since April, which is when he returned from a pool playing trip to England. A father of five, Meyer says he is willing to work in various fields.

Meyer worked for seven years as a stock controller in Montague Gardens. He says he lost his position due to the fact that he needed leave to play pool. He passionately wants to work again. “I’m willing to cancel my pool for my family and just play social pool,” Meyer says. “Due to my pool my family is suffering.” Meyer can work as a stock controller, dispatch clerk, store man, or driver. He is in possession of a Code 8 licence and has a professional driving permit.
