In the early hours of Monday morning a retired couple from Parklands woke up to see two men standing beside their bed.
According to police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler “a struggle ensued between one of the men and the husband. One of the suspects was armed with a long knife, which was dropped during the struggle.” The men eventually left the room and went to two other rooms, where they helped themselves to small items.
Entry was gained by jumping over the side gate and thereafter forcing the safety gate and side door open. The couple did not sustain any serious injuries and “They were in remarkably high spirits when police officers arrived on the scene.”
Due to the dark no description of the suspects could be provided. The suspects did not speak at any time during the invasion. It is not known whether they had a vehicle.
