NSRI Melkbosstrand 4×4 Day

Make a note of this day.

A day that will appeal to 4×4 enthusiasts, shoppers and children.

On 8 October Koeberg Nature Reserve opens its gates for the annual NSRI fundraiser. What to expect? What not!

For the sporty
• 4×4 enthusiasts, this is your once-a-year opportunity to drive up and down Koeberg’s sand dunes. For those of you who have not done so yet, this is the only day in the year during which this is allowed. And some of the dunes are described as “very extreme” which should please adrenaline junkies. There are also handy escape routes, says organiser Natasha Life.

•The South African Kite Flyers Association will be flying their giant kites.

•The South African National Defence Force will be exhibiting vehicles.

One FM 94.0 will be broadcasting from the reserve.

For the shoppers
• Shoppers, you will not be neglected. It will be close enough to pay day to still have some cash burning in your pockets. There will be 60 stalls (which include food stalls) to tempt you.

For the children
• Children will have a ball. The City of Cape Town has joined forces with the NSRI to create a child-friendly environment. So, expect go-karts, a water slide, a jumping castle, an obstacle course, and giant board games i.e. a human chess board.

Entrance to the reserve will be free. The cost of the 4×4 tour is R450 per vehicle. To book your place call
021 5504610 (office hours only). This is the only day in the year during which the worthy men and women in red who make up the NSRI raise funds. Let’s support them!
