Milnerton Police Warn of Fake Cops

Milnerton Police warn that criminals are impersonating police officers. Fake police have popped up in both Table View and Milnerton. Police warn that police uniforms can be stolen from washing lines.

Milnerton Cluster Commander Major General Aneeqah Jordaan urges people to ask for an “appointment certificate” should police arrive at one’s house wanting access without prior notice. “If the officer cannot provide this card, do not allow them access to your home.”

The case in Table View
According to Milnerton police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler three men, of whom two were dressed in police uniforms, gained access to a house in Arum Road in Table View during the past few days.  Once inside the house the suspects attempted to rob the home owner. “She pressed the panic button, which activated the alarm,” Captain Chandlers says.  The suspects fled empty-handed from the scene in a white vehicle.

The case in Milnerton
A man was arrested in Milnerton “after he was seen wearing a police uniform and boasting to his neighbours that he was a police officer. The fake cop was reported to Milnerton Police after attempting to bribe one of his neighbours.  The suspect was arrested and the uniform confiscated.” The man refused to say where he got the uniform.
