Burger Fellers’ three fellers raised a generous amount for the Melkbosstrand Neighbourhood Watch yesterday. They sold a whopping 200 burgers at R50 each. R10 of the sale of each burger goes towards our Neighbourhood Watch Licence Plate Recognition (LRP) system.
This initiative will continue the whole month, says Burger Fellers’ owner Glenn Feller. It’s Glenn’s way of giving back to the community. He says he wanted to show his appreciation for the Melkbos Neighbourhood Watch. He was attacked last year and they supported him.
Now it’s the town that’s supporting him. Burger buyers pulled up at the three way stop opposite the Melkbosstrand Police Station from two o’ clock yesterday afternoon, which was when the Burger Fellers caravan opened shop. A steady stream had to make the burger buyer’s hardest choice: pure beef, chicken or chilli? It was hard. It was heart-breaking. It was hell. But in the end most opted for the pure beef burger. By five past seven all the burgers were sold out.
The Fellers
Burger Fellers will be at the three way stop every Wednesday from now on. Last Wednesday, which was their first day here, they sold 136 burgers. Glenn promises to have more burgers next week.
The Burger Fellers team consists of Glenn, Ryan and Dylan. The fellers are hard-working, polite, they wear gloves, the kitchen is visible, the burgers are reported to be generous and the patties hand-pressed, and so there are no eerie surprises. People who bought last week, returned this week, which tells you something.
Glenn says he plans to continue giving a portion of the burger sales to various worthy causes in Melkbosstrand.
