Cup for kitesurfing in St. Pierre la Mer, France. The event, held from 7 to 10 April, focused on the freestyle aspect of the sport where riders were expected to impress judges with a high level of technical tricks whilst competing against some of the best kiters in the world.

The conditions in France were far from favourable, with winds gusting up to 35 knots and temperatures colder than anything Cape Town has to offer. These strong winds made it even more difficult to deliver the required level of technical tricks. Jason was forced to rig the smallest kite he had available.

Winning form.

In spite of the tough conditions in France, Jason managed to secure the 7th place in the under 16 category. A massive achievement by this young man and one he can add to his rapidly growing CV of accomplishments. Jason is a three time SA Kitesurfing champion in the u/16 division and came 6th in the world in last year’s World Cup Kitesurfing competition in Spain. – Die Melkie
