A suspected robber was arrested “within moments” of entering and robbing a house in Joe Slovo recently, reports Milnerton Police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler.
Robbers kicked in the door of a house in Joe Slovo in the early morning hours of Wednesday 26 April. When the home owner went to investigate he was confronted by four men. Two of the men brandished handguns and one was armed with a knife.
The robbers took the man’s cash and cell phones, after which they hit him on the head with the handgun, and fled. The home owner was able to give a description of the men to Milnerton Police officers who were busy patrolling the area at that moment. They quickly found a man fitting the description of one of the robbers. The victim identified the man as one of those who robbed him “a few moments earlier.” The 36-year-old man was arrested and appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Friday 28 April.
Robbers arrested in Du Noon
On Friday 28 April members of the Milnerton Cluster Crime Combat Team stopped and searched two men (aged 19 and 28) in Du Noon. Police officers found bank cards with another person’s details as well as a cell phone in their possession. The men were arrested for being in possession of what was presumably stolen property.
Going through an official register the following morning, the officers saw that the surname of a complainant matched the surname on the bank cards they had confiscated the previous evening. The complainant was traced. He told police that three men approached him while he was walking to his home in Joe Slovo. One of the men brandished a firearm while the other two robbed him of his cell phone and his wallet, which contained the bank cards. The men were thereupon charged with the armed robbery.
