Housebreaker gets 12-Year Sentence

A housebreaker with an affinity for stealing “small items” has been stopped in his tracks. Yandisa Mthwecu was linked to seven housebreaking cases in the Table View and Parklands area. He was handed a 12-year prison sentence on 30 May.

According to police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler, Mthwecu “stole small items after gaining entrance to the homes.” Mthwecu’s fingerprints were obtained after a housebreaking in Table View was reported, and it was established that he was out on parole on similar charges.

The investigating officer of Table View waited for Mthwecu to sign in at Mitchells Plain Police Station and arrested him on 22 July 2016.  He was in custody for the duration of his trial.
