Two suspected housebreakers (aged 42 and 33) were arrested in Flamingo Vlei after triggering a house alarm. The attempted break-in took place in Porcupine Way around 3 am, says police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk. The owner was away on holiday at the time.

An armed response guard who arrived on the scene contacted police with the information that he had seen two “figures running around the house; it appeared as if they attempted to gain access to the house by forcing one of the windows open.” The suspects ran in the direction of Jamieson Road, where they were apprehended.

Stolen items in car
A car key was found in the possession of one of the suspects. He did not know the car’s registration number. Nor did the car have a registration number, police saw when they found it in Jamieson Road.  A few items, linked to a break-in in Stilt Avenue this morning were found inside the car. According to police the vehicle is not registered and has not reported stolen. The men will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Monday.
