A 65-year-old Table View resident who went for a walk on the afternoon of 27 October was attacked by two homeless people.
The man was walking along Blaauwberg Road in the direction of Otto du Plessis Drive when the homeless man and woman approached him.
Pushed, robbed, verbally abused
The homeless man proceeded to push him to the ground. According to Table View police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler “a struggle ensued before the suspect took the victim’s wallet.”
Adding insult to injury the homeless woman verbally abused the victim, after which the aggressive couple ran off. The victim gave a description of the couple to the police and they were arrested in the early morning hours of 1 November.
By this time they had moved on and were in a park in Parklands. Sergeant Rowan Dowie and Constable Lucinda Goodman arrested them on robbery charges.
