A Heritage Day party in Parklands turned so ugly that it ended in the death of 27-year-old Hillary Okosun … and now the murder suspect (31-years-old) has handed himself over to the police.

According to the spokesperson for Table View police Captain Adriana Chandler the party took place on the morning of 24 September. But it was doomed from the start as Okosun’s wife and the suspect’s wife had argued earlier, and the suspect had assaulted Okosun’s wife.

At the party the suspect “stabbed the victim multiple times. The brother of the victim tried to intervene but could not get the suspect away.”

Fled on foot
The suspect fled on foot from the scene while his victim was rushed to hospital. According to Captain Chandler doctors immediately started operating on Okosun but he died on the operating table.

Detective Constable Siviwe Gladile from Table View Police Station managed to contact the suspect and advised him that it would be in his own interest to hand himself over to the police. The suspect took Constable Gladile’s advice and handed himself over yesterday. He will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court tomorrow.
