Exhibition Promises to be a Wow

An evocative seascape by Lize van der Walt.

The highlight of the week is approaching. The new group exhibition at the Beach House Gallery @ MJ’s in Melkbosstrand that starts Friday night will feature the work of 13 talented artists.

They are Marie Theron, Thomas Kohler, Louis Pretorius, Lize van der Walt, Jeandré Marinier, Yvette Beneke, Herma Kitching, Celeste Vorster, Christine Henderson, Erna Dry, Marina Jacobs (artist and owner of the gallery), Tony Ridgway and Ronel Bakker.

The artworks are diverse, as are the artists. Four of the artists hail from Hermanus; amongst them are Lize van der Walt and Jeandré Marinier, both popular Whale Coast artists.

Ronel Bakker is an artist who expresses herself in clay, and who lives in the shadows of the Klein Winterhoek Mountains.

Ronel Bakker’s whimsical, playful artworks.

Her artworks are whimsical and playful. She ascribes this to “living in a rural village surrounded by more nature than technology, allows free thinking and organic transformation in all my work.”

Welma Esterhuyse of De Fyebosch will treat the culture vultures attending the exhibition to an olive tasting. Her delicious olive breads and other home-made products will also be for sale.
