A woman who was arrested on a charge of drunken driving was set to appear in the Cape Town magistrate’s court on 6 June. The 49-year-old woman was arrested at 00:45 on 29 May after driving recklessly across the West Coast Road, says police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler.
She kept on driving when Table View police activated their sirens indicating to her to stop. She told police that she was “not that drunk and that she lived around the corner.”
She “appeared to be intoxicated,” however, “with the odour of alcohol on her breath, slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.” She also admitted to drinking before she got behind the wheel of her vehicle. A breathalyser test showed that her breath alcohol content was over the legal limit.
