If it sounds too delicious to be true, then it is …The Woolies survey which many South Africans eagerly completed and shared with 10 friends on WhatsApp in order to win a humungous R6 500 Woolies voucher was just a SCAM, reports Scambuster.co.za.
Another version of the scam included a chance to win a voucher, with a R7-a-day subscription hidden in the fine print after you enter your cellphone number.
Woolworths comments as follow: “Woolworths Financial Services will never request your ID number or personal details via WhatsApp or Gmail for any credit application or surveys.”
Scambuster.co.za warns, “Consumers must please always be alert with applications like WhatsApp. Most scam messages like this are sent to a friend of yours who then sends it to you and 500 of his other friends and just because it came from him you believe it. Do not trust anything you see that seems too good to be true, because 100% of the time it is too good to be true.”
