MALMESBURY – A five day (29 Sept-4 Oct) religious revival for farm workers starts in Malmesbury district tomorrow. The person responsible for initiating the “Signs, Wonders and Miracles” crusade is Alta Smith, the mother of Tiana-Leigh Smith who was born with the incurable ABCA3 lung disease.
Smith will be preaching along with pastor Fritz, who is from Malmesbury, and pastor Ernest Snyders, who is the visionary leader at the Fellowship of the Believers in Pretoria. Snyders, who practices anointing the Holy Spirit, will head the crusade.
People have opened their hearts and given
“We have worked hard and the crusade has literally caught fire,” Smith reports. Truter de Kock has given permission for the crusade to be held on the rugby field on his farm Dergendel on the Paardeberg road. A huge tent has been erected for this purpose. The crusade will address issues such as mending lives and getting a renewed passion for life. Spiritual counselling will also be given. At this stage only two things are missing.
Money for Bibles
Smith has been offered hard-cover Bibles at R20 each. She asks for assistance so that she can buy as many as possible to give to the farm workers who will be attending the crusade. On an entirely different note, there is also an urgent request for portable toilets.
According to Smith her faith has supported her throughout Tiana-Leigh’s life-long medical battles. When she was a baby “a black woman visited Tiana-Leigh religiously in hospital,” Smith recalls. “One day she brought along a gift of a Princess dress. ‘This is to give you hope,’ she said. ‘She will grow up and live to wear this dress.’ This year Tiana-Leigh donated the Princess dress to a young cancer sufferer.”’
