Caught Red-Handed

A Table View resident surprised a 53-year-old man from Du Noon who was busy breaking into his car on Saturday morning.

According to Table View Police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler local police responded to a complaint in Flamingo Vlei, Table View. The incident took place after 08:00 in the morning.

The owner of the vehicle handed the suspect to the officers. The complainant told the officers that the man tried to break into his car a short while earlier. According to the complainant the man threatened him with a knife.

The man faces charges of attempted theft out of a motor vehicle, intimidation, possession of car breaking implements and possession of a dangerous weapon. He will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ court on Monday, 16 October.

Table View police once again urges community members not to leave any valuable items inside their vehicles and to park their vehicles behind locked gates.
