Melkbosstrand police asks the assistance of the community in connection with three burglaries that took place last week. The break-ins took place from 14-19 June.

On 14 June a house in Bato Way was broken in to. The break-in took place between 11:31 am and 11:53 am. According to constable Debbie Alard of Melkbosstrand police the homeowner was contacted by his alarm company minutes after leaving his house, informing him that his house alarm had gone off. Upon returning to his house he found that his front door and security gate had been forced open. A Samsung LED TV screen, a 32 inch television, two television remotes, jewellery and a HP laptop had been stolen.

On 17 June a house was broken into in Silver Oak Close in Melkbosch Village. The break-in took place between 10:00 pm and 6:15 am the following morning, without the house’s occupant waking up. Upon waking up she found that the sliding door and safety gate had been forced open. Her handbag, a card and a cellphone had been stolen.

On 19 June a second house was broken into in Silver Oak Close in Melkbosch Village. The burglary took place between 2:30 am and 10:45 am. The garage door had been forced open. There was no sign of forced entry or damage to the door. In this case a hi-fi and a pair of running shoes had been stolen. No arrests have been made at this stage.
