A man who allegedly murdered his former girlfriend handed himself over to Table View police on Monday morning.
The 24-year-old man allegedly approached the woman early on Sunday evening in the vicinity of the Stables in Potsdam Road in Table View. He allegedly stabbed her repeatedly without saying anything. The suspect fled, leaving his weapon on the ground next to the dead woman.
Advised him to hand himself over
The woman’s body was found by Constable Robert Barnard of Table View police. According to Table View police spokesperson Captain Adriana Chandler, “The investigating officer Sergeant Siyabulela Mgaju started the investigation immediately after the incident and went to the house of the suspect, but he could not be found. Sergeant Mgaju spoke to a few people and advised them to inform the suspect to hand himself over to the police.”
The suspect, who had a relationship with the woman a few months ago, handed himself over to Table View police the following morning. He will appear in Cape Town Magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
